Sword of Richard The Lionheart S871

Sword of Richard The Lionheart S871

Richard was a king of England known as the Lion-Heart and famous for his exploits in the Third Crusade, although during his ten-year reign he spent only six months in England. He was born on 8 September 1157 in Oxford, son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. He possessed considerable political and military ability. However, like his brothers, he cared nothing for his family, joining them in the great rebellion against their father in 1173. In 1183 his brother Henry died, leaving Richard heir to the throne. Henry II wanted to give Aquitaine to his youngest brother, John. Richard refused and, in 1189, joined forces with Philip II of France against his father, hounding him to a premature death in July 1189.

PLEASE READ OUR SWORD POLICY

In April 2008 the government introduced a sword ban. Initially the ban covered all swords with a curved blade of 50cm or over.

Although the current legislation states it is still legal to sell/purchase and own a straight edged sword, there have been several incidents recently that have caused us to review our current policy of selling them online and have decided it best to suspend all internet sales of swords.

We will however sell direct to the public providing they supply proof they are over the age of 18 years and collect in person via our retail outlets.

Most swords are now becoming very difficult and rare to obtain due to the current legislation and we are now running low on stock.

Due to the re-stocking problems we are now experiencing we do not intend to re-stock when our current levels have been depleted.

Please be advised to telephone us for a current stock evaluation.
